Why we chose to plant here is critical to our story. Meaning “Sea Breeze” in Maori, the vineyard is nestled between the bluffs of Blind River, just a couple of miles north of the saltpans, close to the sea in the South East corner of Marlborough’s winemaking region. To discover more about what makes the wines of Blind River in particular and the Awatere Valley in general so different Our vineyard is jointly owned by the Marblehead, MA and NZ branches of the family. Simon and Vanessa live here with two dogs and two horses, just North of the salt pans in one of the sunniest, driest, windiest and most disease resistant spots in Marlborough. |
