"3 Brooms" are our single estate wines, made from the best Muritai grapes. We had thought the wines would be called Barker's Marque. But our friends and customers convinced us otherwise.... |

3 Brooms is the culmination of years of Barker family tradition. From 1888, Grandfather Charles' horse-drawn tea cart served first tea, then beer, to the racegoers at Epsom Downs racecourse in England. |
|
The 3 brooms (or besoms) were first lashed to the front of a tented pub run by the Barker's in 1918.
The 3 brooms became a landmark, serving beer, tea and sandwiches to racegoers for nearly 50 years. |
 |
The family hospitality tradition is kept alive by 3 Brooms, our single vineyard wine from Muritai, the family vineyard half a mile from the sea in Marlborough, New Zealand. Simon Barker, the winemaker brother lives there. Ed Barker lives and works in Marblehead on Boston’s North Shore. That still leaves 4 Barker siblings in the UK to keep up the UK tradition.
We hope 3 Brooms will remind you, too, of loving friends, family and good times.
